Meeting school leavers 1992

20 years ago I started teaching  English in the Troyeshchyna Gymnasium.
But before that for 6 years I had been a teacher of English and a class teacher  in school 243, where Victor Safiulin was a director of studies at that time. Amazingly, being a teacher of English, I've never been a class teacher since then because in the gymnasium teachers of English don't work as class teachers.

What a joy it was for me  to meet them, my school leavers 1992 from school 243, who had invited me to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the 9-A form graduation.

Those students have always been in my heart.
The students from other classes were envious of how friendly our class was, how well could we organize our leasure time. My students were very active participants of field trips, class parties and I tried to make them feel like a family involving EVERYBODY in the activities we planned. If we had a party, all of them got a role to perform.
What is more, my students were the Ukrainian language speaking class, which was my choice, and which was rather rare in the 80s. Together we  created a fantastic performance about cossacks based on T.Shevchenko's poems. I also remember the graduation party when each of them had the floor in front of their parents without any previous rehearsals, and my farewell speech about my getting off the train which they would continue travelling in.

And today looking at my former students,  I see myself in them.
Yes, it's unbelievable but they are 34 years old now, and 20 years ago I was 34 as well.

This is how we looked then.

This is a colour music device I used to take to school when we had  fun parties.

Can you find some of my students from  the photo above in the photo below?)))

The meeting 2012 was held in "London" cafe.
It was a fascinating time of listening to my students' stories about their families and careers, and the precious moments of the school years. It was a relaxing time of chatting, singing and dancing.

Watching my students, I had a feeling that we had parted just  a few days before, but not 20 years ago.  Thank you to all for the wonderful time spent together!
